Evan Albums like this come along seldomly, and even more so under the greater 'metal' genre/arc. Every single song is a masterpiece, there is not a single filler on the entire album(12 songs deep btw). In a genre that many people find repetitive, Surrounds creates beautiful depth and character with every note, and fantastical lyric production, true poetry. The band knows what their sound is, and that clearly comes through, you feel every song. These are songs to listen to, not background noise.

Genevieve Leonard Surroundings are a great example of why I am so proud of my local metal scene here in Perth. What a wicked album.

about

Formed in 2011 by five close friends, Surroundings are a melodic hardcore metal/band from Perth, Western Australia. Fuelled by a passion to create refreshing music within the genre, Surroundings have crafted a unique blend of heavy guitar work and ambience not too dissimilar from the world of post-rock.

Having worked on their debut album for the last couple of years, 'Of Bane, Burden & Change' summarises a fresh outlook on life and the journey of emotional struggle, recapping the importance that a positive influence can have on life's route and the need to follow your happiness to achieve fulfilment.

about

Surroundings Perth, Australia

Following the success of 2014’s debut album “Of Bane Burden & Change” Surroundings spent most of 2015 in search of two new members to develop their unique take on modern heavy music - one unafraid to draw influence from forgotten or unfashionable styles to make its point. The new lineup is their strongest yet, and the new single “Elizabeth” is the perfect showcase. ... more
